Holly Golightly... in your dreams!

Like most women, I'm an avid Audrey Hepburn fan.  I love most of her movies, and of course you have to love Breakfast at Tiffany's.  I love the scene of her wearing the sleep mask and tassle earplugs.  I want that mask.  I got that mask... several years ago.  Although I bought mine (two of them because I was afraid of never finding them again) from Fredflare.com, I found something similar at another sight.  The Holly Golighly Sleep Mask ($33) from Mary Green does a good job of capturing the original sleep mask.  Now you can look almost as good as Holly Golightly when you're unconscious... almost.

It May Not Be Tiffany's, but....

The company Dogeared Jewels and Gifts designs "wish necklaces" that make great gifts.  They place different charms on silk thread, and the the thread naturally begins to wear away.  When the thead finally breaks, it is said your 'wish' comes true.  Although it may seem like you're spending your money on a necklace that's not made to last, you're correct.  The concept is interesting though... keeps things up in the air.  It's like one day you have a great, delicate necklace... and the next it's gone.  The catch is you can't really get mad, because it means your wish came true.  Ohhh it's a catch 22.  Oh yeah, and they're eco-friendly so you REALLY can't get mad it's breaks off.

Fashion in Your Face!

In a recent issue of O Magazine, there was a little highlight on Needham Lane house shoes ($26).  I ordered them.. for my mom's 35th birthday (mom you're so young and I would never reveal your real age).  Then of course I ordered myself a pair as well because if I didn't I would just end up stealing my mom's pair.  Anyways, when I went to order them I discovered a whole new world of cute pajamas!  Great prints with a variety of choices for every season.  The shoes are great and come in sizes small, medium, and large... I wear around a 9.5 shoe and ordered the large (10-11).. they're not huge, so keep in mind they may run a bit small.

*Mom... sorry I haven't sent you your birthday present yet, but now you have somthing to look forward to! I guess... um, look for a package in the mail.

Fashion In Your Face!

This is a great dress from Banana Republic for $142.  It's great for work, a wedding, a funeral.. whatever suits your fancy.  The broader shoulder helps excentuate a smaller waistline so go get the dress and disappear.

Yum In My Tum.

This is one of my favorite recipes from Real Simple, and I'm cooking it tonight.  It's easy, it's good... and Caroline if you're reading this, well I guess you know what we're eating tonight.

I recently graduated from college, and I found collegiate stamps to put on my graduation invitations.   Stamps.com offers a variety of stamps for different major universities.  Although my alma mater is Auburn University, they also offer stamps for Chapel Hill, NC State, Virginia Tech, University of Alabama, and Clemson... just to name a few.

A sheet of 20 is $18.99, so a little pricey, but for a special occasion it's the icing on the cake.

September

Today is the first day of, SEPTEMBER!  Great.  Sapphire is the birthstone. September's flower is the Forget-me-not.  Labor Day is the only official holiday during the month  (wikipedia.org).

Here are some other interesting monthly observances:

Guess what's back?  Starbucks Pumpkin Spice drinks.  To me, this is the official sign that Summer is no longer (even though it is), and Fall has arrived (even though it hasn't).  Look how great they look in that little picture, so cute and pumpkin-y.  I almost wanna carve a little jack-o-lantern face in the coffee mug... not really ... OK maybe.  They also make a Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino, which is news to me.  FYI, if you get whip cream on any drink, you're asking for another 110 calories and 11.5 grams of fat.

I found these address labels a while ago, just by googling "address labels".  I'm so clever.  Anyways, I chose the green and blue in the bottom left hand corner.  They're great, I get compliments on them a lot.  I put them on the insides of books I let people borrow, and then on the obvious... letters.  They're from Colorful Images and are $9.95 for 144 stickers.

The company also offers a variety of other cute round labels that I like pictured below.  Enjoy the roundness.

At the beginning of the summer, I read an article about this amazing new gelato company called Ciao Bella.  The flavors seemed a little if-y to me, but when I saw the gelato in the grocery store I decided the only thing it could hurt was... my thighs.  So I bought their Key Lime Graham Cracker Gelato and their Blood Orange Sorbetto.  Ok, I'm not a huge sweets person, but this is delicious.  I'm ok saying it's better than key lime pie.  What's even better I can only take one spoonful, and I'm satisfied.  They have a plethera of interesting flavors and they're made to pair with each other.  I found mine at Harris Teeter, but they also have them at Whole Foods.

YAYY yum.

What A Great Idea!

Ok, Enchanted Phone Calls are by no means a new thing to me.  My mom has sent them to me on many occasions...for example, on my birthday and the day before exams started.  Disney has come up with this great concept of personalizing an "Enchanted Phone Call" from a variety of Disney characters.  For example, almost all the Disney Princesses and classic characters can call a provided number to wish a happy birthday, good luck, or a congratulations. It can get even more personalized down to a first day of school for a little one. Minnie Mouse called me once; I don't mean to brag, but we're pretty tight.  If she likes to call me to give me an encouraging pep talk, I'm all for it.  Did my mom pay $2.49 for it?  Probably, but I'm gonna say Minnie calls me voluntarily if anyone asks.  It's definitely going to the link and listening to their sample, it's also worth the $2.49.

*No, no on the Poco (Pocohontas).  She sounds way too serious.
